Wilma 6 a winner "The Wilma's clarity and broad spectrum allowed me to attack the track with equal confidence as during the day-time. I wouldn't want to ride with anything else now. The light the Wilma's shed was just so superior." Katrin Van Der Spiegel. Australian National 24hr Champion.

Katrin Van der Spiegel wins Geoquest with Lupine

18.06.2009

24 Hour mountain biker Katrin Van der Spiegel wins Geoquest with Lupine.

24 Hour mountain biker Katrin Van der Spiegel proved her versatility over
the June Long weekend by winning Geoquest, Australia's premier Adventure Race held in Forster. Racing with husband Richard Mountstephens, Sam Maffett and Kris Plain the team 'Dude Where's my Bruno' finished the 230km course of mountain biking, kayaking, running and rock climbing half an hour ahead of the highly fancied team Apex with ironman great Guy Andrews and Anaconda series champion Christie Sym.

The result follows Richard's recent third place in the Keen Adventure Race
held in the Victorian Otway ranges, finishing ahead of world champion pair
Wayne Oxenham and Brent Edwards of Team Orion in the 5 day stage race
through some of Victoria's most rugged country.

Richard Mountstephens on his Lupine Lights -  "The ability to configure the wattages for each setting, and ease of doing so is hugely useful for both 24 hour and AR. During both the Keen race and the 24 nationals I re-configured the lights on site to match the needs of the race (something you dont know beforehand for AR). That way you can manage brightness vs. the amount of battery life you have accurately.
- The brightness on lower wattage settings is very good. Can hardly tell the difference between 12W & 15W. With the Keen race we had a 19hr section without support, and were able to get through without having to carry kg's of battery.
- The running mount is comfortable.
- The new Wilma with the button on top is much handier than the old model switch on a cable.
- Robustness is impressive, considering where I've taken them.
- The bike helmet mount is finicky to get on. The velcro keeps catching the padding inside the helmet. :-) Nice and solid once on though."

Katrin Wins With Lupine!

28.03.2008

Katrin Van Der Spiegel National 24Hr Solo Champion - Wins with Lupine Wilma LED.

Super Mum Katrin Van Der Spiegel Wins the 2008 Australian National 24hr Solo Championships. Katrin is very impressed with the performance of Lupine's Wilma LED - We look forward to getting a full review from Katrin which will be available in our websites 'review' page soon. An interesting fact is that Katrin also held 11 of the fastest 20 night laps for the evening! In Katrin's own words:

"A coincidence? I think not!"

"The Wilma's clarity and broad spectrum allowed me to attack the track with equal confidence as during the day-time."

"I wouldn't want to ride with anything else now. The light the Wilma's shed was just so superior."

Katrin's setup consisted of a Wilma LED mounted on the bars and a Wilma LED mounted on the helmet. Katrin also noted that the Lupine's systems are very light weight yet have a very powerful output and long runtime.

This photo is of Katrin with both Wilma's blazing!

Congratulations Katrin, you are amazing!

Lupine Demo Night - Wingello SF

27.09.2007

Night Time MTB-O, Wingello State Forest - Lupine Demo Night.

After an amazing day of MTB-O racing through native and spectacular pine forests of Wingello it was time to set-up for another event that evening.

Night time MTB-O events could be considered pretty hard, after all, even during daylight hours it is difficult enough to follow a small map with multiple route options on a bumpy track. Try doing this at night and you may get an idea of what I mean.

We had 5 superb Lupine Wilma's and a brand new Lupine Betty for riders to try out that evening.

Things started with a fairly cool night at Forest Camp with a temperature forecast of minus 2 degrees to come. Cold weather didn't deter the adventurous and intrepid souls that ventured out for either a long or short course. David West of Mountain Devils placed the checkpoints out earlier that afternoon, how he managed to run another 3 events only a couple of hours prior and still manage to set up another course that night is amazing.

It took no time at all to prepare each rider with lights. It was great to get to so many different bikes ready so quickly, flat bars, riser bars, maps boards, this shows how flexible Lupine's 'O' ring system really is. We even resorted to mounting the Betty on the steerer tube of one rigid bike which had no room left on the bars, it worked but we wouldn't really recommend it!

It was great to see riders weaving in and out of the pine forests, the Wilma's beam was easily seen for some distance. At one stage we saw a huge beam sending shafts of light through the thin fog with pine tree sillhouettes. We expected to see a car coming, but instead it was the rider with the Betty finishing the event!

The riders who had the chance to try out a Lupine light were very impressed with the beam quality and high level of light output. It was a great night finished off with an excellent bon fire and homemade glue wine which funnily enough actually tasted more like glue than wine!

Until the next one!

New Lupine Flagship LED light - Over 1400 lumen!

13.07.2007

New Lupine Flagship LED Light

Lupine have announced a new flagship model LED light.
Still to be given a name which is subject to a poll on Lupine's website

http://www.lupine-lights.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=7603#7603

This new light has an enormous output.

The current Wilma at 830 lumen has an extraordinarily bright and very well tuned beam.
This completely new flagship model will be almost double the brightness at over 1400 lumen! That's 22 watts of LED power! There will be 2 different standard configurations available, one with a 6.8Ah Li-Ion battery and Charger One and another model with a 13.8Ah battery and Charger One. Virtuascape can also do custom battery packages to suit your specific needs.

Changes have been made to the software. The most remarkable change is the addition of a new super flash mode with 2 additional dim levels and they have been made much easier to select.
The new lens provides a broad beam and more distance throw than ever before.

Availability at this stage is looking like late August, pricing will also be confirmed around this time,
keep a look out in our news section for the unveiling of the new name and more images of this magnificent light, note: the front ring is actually made of titanium!

A quote from Lupine "We did not build this light to be cheap but to be the best"

Current specifications are as follows:

Diameter 54 mm
Length 44 mm
Weight ~160 gr (lighthead only)
Power Levels from 0.5W to 22W
Note 0.5W is an emergency mode for ultra long runtimes of up to 1 WEEK!
Lumen Output: more than 1400

NEW WILMA LED 15 Watts - 830 Lumen!

10.05.2007

Say hello to the best & brightest LED light anywhere........

Introducing Lupine's new 15 watt 830 Lumen Wilma LED, WOW!

We all know the Edison is the king of HID lights, take a look at the beam photos comparing Lupine's superior Edison HID to the new Wilma LED! Lupine have certainly done some amazing things with the new Wilma, all the advantages of LED and the same brightness as the Edison. Add to this that these LED units are completely upgradeable by their owners to newer more powerful LED's in the future makes the new Wilma a very sound investment.
